The longest game (in innings) in MLB history was actually a tie, with the Brooklyn Robins tying the Boston Braves 1 to 1 in 26 innings. This happened on May 1st,1920. The game was suspended because of darkness. Both of the pitchers, Joe Oeschger of the Braves and Leon Cadore of the Robins went the full 26 innings.
