Yankees talking to Cubs about acquiring Alfonso Soriano
As I mentioned here and here, Alex Rodriguez might not be coming back soon. He might have provided the offensive spark that the Yankees needed. Seeing this, the Yankees have begun to talk to the Chicago Cubs about trading for leftfielder Alfonso Soriano. He is 37 years old and is batting .256 this year. While his OBP is not the best at .286, his homerun total is 17 which would be good for second on the Yankees, behind only Robinson Cano. The Yankees are expected to give up only a low level prospect and the Cubs would pay most of Soriano's 19 million dollar salary. I think this would be a good deal for the Yankees, given their dire offensive situation.

This would actually be Soriano's second time with the Yankees, after making his MLB debut with them.
